Education systems focus on improving teachers' digital literacy –

Embrace digitalization and master new skills (Read Deep)

Intelligent interconnected blackboard, 3D experimental simulation cabin, automatic evaluation and analysis system... The iterative update of advanced technologies has promoted the innovation of teaching equipment and teaching methods, and also driven more than 1800 million full-time teachers to continuously learn and improve digital literacy.

Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the industry standard of "Digital Literacy for Teachers", clarifying that the connotation of digital literacy of teachers is: the awareness, ability and responsibility to appropriately use digital technology to obtain, process, use, manage and evaluate digital information and resources, discover, analyze and solve education and teaching problems, and optimize, innovate and change education and teaching activities. How to develop digital literacy in teachers? What exploration practices have schools made in various places? How to narrow the gap between urban and rural teachers' information technology application? The reporter conducted an interview.

Cross-school, cross-regional and cross-section training:

Practice-oriented, classroom-oriented, relying on real teaching scenarios for targeted training

On the first day of school, the new campus of Beijing Haidian District Teacher Training School welcomed the first batch of teachers to participate in offline teaching and research.

In the micro-lesson recording room, teachers can self-record virtual and real-world high-quality lessons; In venues such as the physical and chemical biological experimental skills assessment room and the board book evaluation room, teachers can use AI technology to help forward-looking research-based practice; Lecture halls, multi-screen interactive classrooms, etc. provide new venues for on-site training and remote discussions for teachers in the district... As a smart teacher training center, the new campus of Haidian District Teacher Training School provides teachers with a physical and virtual space for in-depth interactive teaching and research, helping teachers improve their digital literacy.

"The relationship between digital technology and teachers has changed from assistance to integration." Luo Bin, principal of Haidian District Teacher Training School, said, "Teachers and researchers play an important role in improving teachers' digital literacy and helping teachers apply training content to teaching practice. ”

Teaching researchers are "teachers' teachers". Early in the morning, Niu Yuxi, a teacher and researcher from Haidian District, rushed to the Haidian Affiliated Experimental Primary School to give a "demonstration lesson" of "Zhaozhou Bridge" for the teachers.

"The day before, teacher Niu Yuxi asked us to revise and polish the teaching design face-to-face. Later, Teacher Niu left me a message, saying that he had a new teaching idea and planned to take a class in person. Du Chunhuan, a teacher who participated in the study, said that behind a good class is an "integrated joint teaching and research" that lasts for more than 20 days, and has experienced 5 cross-school joint research and 10 times of expert guidance.

"Integrated joint teaching and research" is a new form of Haidian teaching and research transformation, relying on the professional guidance of teaching and research staff, comprehensive use of collaborative editing documents, online questionnaires, electronic whiteboards and other smart tools to achieve online group learning, same-screen writing, data analysis, cross-school, cross-regional and cross-school sharing of high-quality resources, helping ordinary school teachers grow in clusters.

"Training is one of the most direct means to improve teachers' digital literacy." Wu Di, a core expert of the expert team for the drafting of "Digital Literacy for Teachers" and a professor at Central China Normal University, said, "From the actual situation of the locality, practice-oriented, classroom-oriented, and relying on real teaching scenarios targeted training can often produce better results. ”

"Assessment-Evaluation-Training" mechanism:

Promote learning through evaluation, promote use with evaluation, and promote excellence through evaluation, and improve the digital literacy of all teachers

Shi Yinghui, an associate professor in the Division of Artificial Intelligence Education at Central China Normal University, had a packed day — flying to Ningxia, then taking a bus across the Yellow River and following a familiar route all the way northwest. At 3 p.m., he arrived at the destination of the trip, Yinchuan No. 10 Middle School in Ningxia, where he will work for the next 1400 days. In recent years, Shi Yinghui has repeated this <>- or <>-hour journey of about <>,<> kilometers almost every month.

Since 2018, Ningxia has been approved as the country's first "Internet + education" demonstration province (region) and a national intelligent society governance education characteristic experimental base. In this context, Central China Normal University and Yinchuan <>th Middle School jointly built the "Internet + Education" benchmark school project, and Shi Yinghui became a resident guidance expert.

From how to better use digital teaching resources such as whiteboards and cloud platforms, to further improve the efficiency of teacher-student interaction, and to better use digital technology to stimulate students' interest in learning, Shi Yinghui provides one-on-one tutoring for teachers. "Over the course of a year, I listen to more than 160 classes." Shi Yinghui said.

"Evaluation" is the key word for Ningxia to improve teachers' digital literacy as a whole. Since 2020, Ningxia has carried out the assessment and grading of teachers' information literacy for three consecutive years, and improved the digital portrait of teachers' professional development. According to the latest assessment results, in 3, 2022,6 principals, teachers and teachers and researchers at all levels of primary and secondary schools in the region participated in the information literacy assessment, with a pass rate of 9.99%; The excellent rate reached 93.69%, an increase of 97.2021% over 8.

"Promoting learning with evaluation, promoting use with evaluation, and promoting excellence with evaluation." Wang Cheng, director of Ningxia Education Information Management Center, introduced that relying on the assessment results, targeted training on teachers' information literacy can be carried out in a targeted manner, and a "assessment-evaluation-training" mechanism can be built to improve the digital literacy and digital teaching ability of all teachers.

"1+1" Dual Academy:

Establish a teaching and research community to narrow the gap between urban and rural teachers' ability to apply information technology

Open the map software, click to search for "City Wall Village Primary School", no location results.

Li Guangli, 34, is the only music teacher in this "unsearchable" village school. There are 4 grades in the school, 26 students, and when they encounter choir and instrumental music lessons, they will arrange everyone to attend classes in the same classroom.

Crossing the digital divide is a problem that must be solved to promote the digitalization of education. At present, all primary and secondary schools (including teaching points) in China have been connected to the Internet, and more than 3/4 of schools have achieved wireless network coverage. While the digital infrastructure conditions are significantly improved, how to narrow the gap between urban and rural teachers' information technology application ability is a challenge for rural schools.

Chengqiang Village Primary School is a village under the jurisdiction of Dachuan School, Daquanyuan Manchu Korean Township, Tonghua County, Jilin Province, about 20 kilometers away from the central school. "There are few teachers in village primary schools, the frequency of use of online recording classrooms is not high, and the special classrooms and remote collaborative teaching and research directly connected to village primary schools are more arbitrary and fragmented." Wang Minglin, principal of Dachuan School, said, "The '1+1' dual-school model helps bridge the gap between village primary and central schools and improve the digital literacy of village primary school teachers. ”

The "1+1" in the "1+1" dual school refers to the central school and the village primary school respectively. The dual schools are the Student Academy and the Teacher Academy. In the teacher academy, information teaching workshops for teachers of central schools and village primary schools were set up.

"Rural teachers interact online in real time in workshops, middle school technology, courseware, teaching and research, demonstration exercises, classroom diagnosis, micro-lectures, and thematic seminars." Li Caixia, director of the Teacher Training Department of Tonghua County Teacher Training School, believes that the workshop has helped rural teachers establish a discipline teaching and research community, greatly improving the teaching ability of rural teachers, and narrowing the gap between urban and rural teachers' digital literacy.

"I hope that the village primary school teachers can get more training." In the training related to information technology application ability improvement project 2.0, Li Guangli learned to use music editing software, and then he also wants to continue to learn to use video software, learning situation analysis software and other skills.

Teachers' digital literacy is the key soft power to promote the digital transformation of education, and an important support for building a high-quality education system and cultivating high-quality talents. Ren Youqun, Director of the Department of Teacher Work of the Ministry of Education, said that it is necessary to focus on the opportunities and challenges faced by teachers in the digital transformation of education, improve teachers' digital literacy, enable teachers to have better adaptability and innovation in education and teaching in the digital and intelligent era, promote teaching upgrading and overall education reform, and promote the high-quality development of education.
