• Politics The PP before the motion: "By fixing their criticism in Feijóo, Vox and PSOE recognize him as the only alternative"
  • Politics Tamames speech is leaked six days after the motion of censure and before meeting Abascal: "Spain resembles an autocracy"

For Ramón Tamames the motion of censure to Pedro Sánchez will not end tomorrow, the day on which the vote will take place in Congress. When the initiative of Vox declines with only 52 votes in favor, the lights go out and the interviews are finished, the alternative candidate for the Presidency of the Government will return to his office to put in writing all that experience with the intention of publishing a new book.

It will be the first to address in a monothematic and exhaustive way the ins and outs of a motion of censure and that is written by its main protagonist. In addition, Tamames has in this case the particularity of having been the first candidate with an independent poster that heads such a situation in Spain. For the rest belonged to a political party.

In this new volume he will collect not only his speech before Congress, which will be just one more part, but will have as a historical value to tell in first person how that whole process has been, which has not been exempt from tensions with Vox for the contrary opinions he has expressed on flagship issues of the party. Thus, it is expected to narrate the moment in which Fernando Sánchez Dragó put his name on the table as a candidate until how the negotiations with Santiago Abascal's party were later to find a fit despite their differences.

Sources around him confirm Ramón Tamames' willingness to write that book and point out that it is consistent with his career, because of everything he has done in his life he has written a volume. His prolific work attests to this. He has published about twenty books of which Economic Structure of Spain has been one of the most important, because it has been a reference manual in university studies for many generations.

The filtering of his speech in the motion of censure, published by Eldiario.es, shows how the very structuring of the text is already organized in book format. The document has an index, is divided into thematic chapters and even has bibliographic references at the bottom of the page. Logically, the speeches that are delivered in Congress lack any bibliographic note because in no case will they be read in public. It is an essential feature of academic publications.

The published draft has 31 chapters, of which one is called "conclusions", but as he himself has revealed it is an original version, which is not even one of the last versions of the text. That is why it could be even longer than the 34 known pages, according to what he pointed out last Thursday.

The sources consulted affirm that Tamames wants to record all this experience at 89 years old. Not surprisingly, in his own speech he defines the experience thus: "Today's act is for me like one of the last sequences of the script of my life."

To relate this episode of his life, Tamames keeps documents and e-mails with which he has been sharing opinions, ideas or drafts of speech with his collaborators. However, until the book is finished it will not be known to what extent it will dive into the details now unknown, such as where he thinks the leak comes from, or if he will reveal the personal contacts he has maintained during this time. They have mainly been with Vox, the party that has promoted him as a candidate, but also with other public figures, such as the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, with whom he shared a meal when he already had Abascal's offer to lead the motion of censure.
