The partner, who is now in custody on suspicion of violating the grifting order and aggravated grave peace, said at the time, according to NRK, that the woman was out walking the dog. But the family remained worried and therefore also contacted the Swedish police.

"Neighbours said they hadn't seen her in a year. We understood then that something must be wrong," a relative told NRK.

Police are now confirming contact.

"There was never a formal police report, but we have documented that close relatives have contacted us and been worried," says Per-Olov Forsman, head of the preliminary investigation at the police's serious crimes department.

Instead, some control data was taken, then the case was closed. But the early concerns of relatives are to be addressed in future hearings.

"It's about a close relative who will still be heard now, and then we will of course also mention that they got in touch already in 2019," says Per-Olov Forsman.
