• 7:37 am: the government announces requisitions of personnel at the oil depot of Fos-sur-Mer

The Ministry of Energy Transition announced the requisition of "three employees per shifter" at the Fos-sur-Mer oil depot "in the face of worsening supply tensions in the Bouches-du-Rhône", as a result of strikes against the pension reform.

"The requisition is valid for 48 hours as needed, from March 21" and concerns "personnel essential to the operation of the depot" which supplies the PACA region and the east of the Occitanie region with fuel, said the ministry in a statement.

Also on Monday evening, demonstrations took place in many cities of France, sometimes punctuated by high tensions. A new day of union mobilization is expected on Thursday, the day after the presidential interview.

  • 5:55 am: the police evacuate the oil port of Donges blocked by the strikers

The police intervened in the night from Monday to Tuesday to unblock the oil terminal of Donges (Loire-Atlantique) which was occupied for a week by strikers, found an AFP photographer.

According to a CGT source, the oil port was evacuated in less than two hours to facilitate the unloading of a cargo of diesel.

The mobile gendarmes began their intervention around 2 a.m., we learned from the same source. At dawn, they secured the area by extinguishing fires lit by demonstrators. Around 4:30 a.m., no more protesters were present at the site, according to an AFP photographer.

A source close to the strikers reported "clashes" in the night. According to her, the police would have "started to charge" the demonstrators "as soon as they arrived" around 2 am. According to the photographer, a dozen police vans were visible on the site.

The prefecture's on-call was unable to confirm whether an intervention by the police had taken place, nor the presence of wounded. The prefecture has scheduled a press briefing on the situation on Tuesday morning.
