It is the search service for post-secondary studies, Studentum.se, that in recent years has listed Sweden's ten best student cities and this year the first place went to Stockholm.

Uppsala has two years in a row come seventh on the list – but this year something happened. The student city plummets down to 21st place (out of 34).

"It is imagined that Uppsala is on a top list of Sweden's best student cities," says Denice Karlsson, content manager at Studentum.

Studentum has, since 2021, ranked Sweden's best student cities. This is done through a survey, with about 1,000 respondents, and external sources such as the Swedish Public Employment Service (to investigate career opportunities) and the Swedish United Student Unions (to control the housing situation). The cities then receive points in nine different categories. These are:

• Good communications within and adjacent to the city

• Possibility of extra work during the study period

• Student accommodation

•Career opportunities

• Opportunity to find an internship

• City life

• Student life

• Possibility of master's and doctoral studies

• Range of leisure activities

Uppsala is at the bottom in three of these. Hear which ones in the clip.
