For Mathilda, who started in high school when she was 13, this is just the beginning, she aims to become Sweden's youngest lawyer ever. The explanation for her being so far ahead of her peers is that she started school a year early, plus she skipped seventh grade.

"I learned to read and write when I was around 2-3 years old. And after that, I haven't wanted to do anything but read. At school, I was very far ahead in all subjects and got bored in class. Therefore, my parents, in consultation with the school, decided that I should skip classes.

Youngest ever?

Maria Norrström, who is responsible for communications at the School of Business, Economics and Law, asks to return to the question of whether Mathilda is the youngest student ever. She does so after conversing with an education coordinator who has worked at the Department of Law for nearly twenty years.

"She can't remember us having such a young student before. This girl is thus most likely the youngest ever.

Want to read at double speed

Law school is normally four and a half years, so for so long Mathilda has not planned to be there. We meet her on enrollment day. It turns out that she has already read half of the first semester's course literature.

"My ambition is to study the programme at double speed. It feels completely natural to read faster, I have all my life had a faster pace of study than others. I can't think of anything other than reading all the time.

What is the goal?

"My plans are for me to become a lawyer. I will probably be the youngest lawyer in Sweden.
