In DRC, thousands displaced in makeshift camps in Goma

This is a particularly deadly conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The army and M-23 rebels clash in the east of the country. People are fleeing the atrocity of fighting in North Kivu. More than 600,000 people have flocked to the outskirts of the provincial capital of Goma to take refuge in camps consisting of tents and makeshift shelters. NGOs and the government are trying to welcome them as best they can.

Soon a Senegallywood?

Will French-speaking West Africa become the new African Hollywood? We know Nollywood well, Nigeria where about 2500 films are released per year. Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal are also seeing their audiovisual production explode. In the country of Teranga, the number of series shot has almost multiplied by 10 in the last 5 years. A new generation of filmmakers is emerging, supported by the rise of online distribution platforms. More and more young people do not hesitate to train in the film industry and international producers come to develop their projects.
