A few days before the start of the so-called "Ramadan TV drama" season for 2023 in Egypt, some series are facing crises such as accusations of adaptation or similarity, or the interference of some actors in the details of the work, which leads to disagreements and problems.

The series "Jet Salima"

In a video posted on her pages on social media platforms, the young novelist Rawan Abu Khashm accused the makers of the series "Jet Salima" of stealing the idea of the series from a novel she presented at the Cairo International Book Fair in 2021 under the title "Vacuum Afrieb".

In press statements, the director of the series, Islam Khairy, responded to the accusations by saying, "The format of the series is completely different from the novel, and for the first time I know that there is a novel that says this."

About two weeks ago, the company "Sobky" for artistic production published a promo for the Ramadan series "Jet Salima" starring actress Donia Samir Ghanem, which is scheduled to be shown in the latter half of Ramadan.

"Three thirds". "Guardianship". "Matter"

As for actress Ghada Abdel Razek's series "Talat al-Talata", he faced accusations that its story is similar to the events of the foreign series "Triptych", which revolves in a drama full of mystery through 3 twin sisters who have never been separated since birth, but were adopted through 3 separate and different families.

In the series, Ghada Abdel Razek presents the character of 3 twins who differ in their social status, and one of them suffers from crises and problems because of her husband.

The series is written by Heba Al-Husseini and directed by Hassan Saleh, and co-starring with Ghada Abdel Razek by Salah Abdullah, Majed Al-Masry and Laila Ahmed Zaher.

The accusations of quotation and similarity also face the series "Under Guardianship" and "Setham", where the first starring actress Mona Zaki and embodies the character of a woman disguised as men and works in the arduous profession of hunting in order to raise her two children, and the series written by Khaled and Sherine Diab and directed by Mohamed Shaker Khudair.

The story of "Under Guardianship" is similar to that of the series "Sitham", written by Nasser Abdel Rahman and directed by Raouf Abdel Aziz, where its heroine, actress Rojina, also disguises herself as men in order to work in a difficult profession without being harassed.

The director told a local newspaper that the series presents a dramatic story of 4 struggling women from Egyptian society, and that the work is not a coincidence, as it was filmed and prepared a while ago.

Actress Rojina commented indirectly through her Twitter page, saying, "Since last Ramadan 29, I asked God to help me in my new series, which I am working on 6 months ago."

From in front of the Kaaba on the 29th Ramadan I asked for God's success in the series Sitham 6 months working on the project. A great effort from the director Raouf Abdel Aziz and the author Nasser Abdel Rahman so that our dream becomes a reality and we make a work worthy of the audience
pray for me good luck and our dream will see the light 🙏🙏🙏 pic.twitter.com/eAByTkDJrP

This is not the only crisis that faced "Setham", after the leak of a picture of Rojina, which is completely shaved head provoked the anger of the makers of the series so as to burn the character days before the show despite the imposition of the director complete secrecy.

As for the actor Mohamed Saad, his series "Hajj Excellence", through which he returns to the television drama, also witnessed a crisis after director Mahmoud Kamel apologized for completing filming, and then replaced by director Ibram Nashat, to come out full in local statements, stressing that the reason for the differences was the intervention of Mohamed Saad filming and directing work.

Mohamed Saad responded to the director's words in an interview with SBC, saying, "Everyone intervenes, but every artist has his own way, and the great writer Shakespeare presented 3 copies of Hamlet's novel. Improvisation is very important and it's called brainstorming."
