The "Al-Quds Brigades", the military arm of the Islamic Jihad movement, announced the martyrdom of one of its leaders in Syria, Ali Ramzi Al-Aswad, in an assassination that it described as cowardly and said that it bears the hallmarks of the "Zionist enemy."

The "Jerusalem Brigades" said in a statement that the 31-year-old Al-Aswad was shot dead while leaving his home in the Qudsaya area of Damascus countryside on Sunday morning.

She explained that the black martyr is a Palestinian refugee, whose family was displaced from the city of Haifa in 1948 and settled in Syria, and he joined the Jerusalem Brigades at an early age, and worked as a chemical engineer in its ranks.

The "Al-Quds Brigades" stressed that it will continue its work, jihad, preparation and fighting in all squares in defense of the holy land of Palestine and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and will not fail to support the succession of martyrs and the gravity of the sacrifices made by its brave sons everywhere.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "dozens of terrorists" had been killed by Israel over the past month, without referring directly to today's incident.

Netanyahu, in his tweet hours after the incident, added that Israel "will reach the terrorists and architects of terrorism wherever they are."
