Prime Minister Kishida left for India on the evening of the 19th to visit India and hold a summit meeting with Prime Minister Modi. Prior to this, Prime Minister Abe discussed the roles that should be played in the international community as the chair of the G7 and G20, respectively, and expressed his intention to confirm cooperation.

Prime Minister Kishida departed Haneda Airport on a government plane for the capital New Delhi shortly after 22:20 p.m. on May 20 to visit India, the chair of the G19 = 11 major countries, until the <>nd of this month.

In addition to attending a summit meeting with Prime Minister Modi, he will also speak at a think tank and announce a concrete plan to promote the "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" advocated by Japan.

Prior to his departure, Prime Minister Kishida told reporters at the Prime Minister's Official Residence, "Japan With the G7 = the chair of the G7 countries and India the chair of the G20, I would like to exchange views in detail on what roles the two countries should play in the international community, and I would also like to confirm the further deepening of bilateral relations."

Regarding his speech at a think tank, he said, "I would like to clarify my thoughts on the role that FOIP = 'Free and Open Indo-Pacific' will play at a historic turning point."

Prime Minister Kishida is scheduled to arrive at the site around noon on June 2, Japan time.
