With 52 points, Bayern is one point behind Borussia Dortmund (53), while the two teams have an appointment on Saturday, April 1 (18:30) at the Allianz Arena Munich for the Klassiker of the German championship, which promises to be decisive this season for the awarding of the title.

By conceding two penalties on fouls by Benjamin Pavard (55th) and Dayot Upamecano (73rd), converted by Argentine Exequiel Palacios, Bayern suffered its third defeat of the season after setbacks in Augsburg in mid-September (1-0) and Mönchengladbach (3-2) in mid-February.

The two penalties awarded to Leverkusen were caused by Amine Adli, first sanctioned by the referee with two simulations and a yellow card, decisions each time logically reversed for contact in the box with Pavard and Upamecano.

Munich are ten-time defending champions of Germany. The last time they lost the domestic title was in the 2011/12 season at the expense of Borussia Dortmund, coached at the time by Jürgen Klopp.
