Zakharova: according to historical logic, the Romanian language should be called Moldovan, and not vice versa

She drew attention to the statement of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the law of the Moldovan Parliament on renaming the state language of the republic to romanian "restored scientific truth", which will strengthen relations between Chisinau and Bucharest.

As Zakharova explained in her Telegram channel, Moldovan is the ancient language of the Moldovans, which is mentioned in the works of the XVII century. At the same time, according to her, there was no Romanian language at that time, there was Old Romanian, which is more correctly called, according to most researchers, Wallachian.

"If they want to rewrite the name of the language, then let them adhere to historical logic and call Romanian Moldovan, and not vice versa," the diplomat said.
