It was just before seven o'clock on Friday night, March 17, that police were alerted to a residence on Orust, where a woman was found, seemingly lifeless. She was taken to NÄL by ambulance helicopter, but later died at the hospital.

"We can't say what the cause of death is, but you can't rule out crime," says Peter Adlersson, a spokesman for the police.

The residence was cordoned off for a technical examination, which will be carried out on Saturday.

Police have opened a preliminary investigation into murder or manslaughter. A man in his 70s has been arrested on suspicion of the crime. The man was later arrested by prosecutors, but according to police, it remains unclear whether a crime has been committed.

"We will have to wait for a forensic examination to find out about it. Technical examination is done during the day. We must hope that this can bring clarity to this," says Peter Adlersson.

Relatives of the woman have been notified.
