At the Japan-ROK summit meeting on the 16th, while it was agreed to stably operate the Comprehensive Security of Military Information Agreement = GSOMIA between the two countries, the Korean media reported that the Ministry of Defense has started the necessary procedures to withdraw the state that it can abandon the agreement at any time.

The GSOMIA reversed course and announced the suspension of the notification after the previous South Korean administration announced that it would abandon the agreement.

Since then, the situation has continued to be unnormal, as the ROK side can abandon it at any time, but President Yoon Sung-yeol stated at a press conference after the Japan-ROK summit meeting on the 16th that he had "declared complete normalization."

In relation to this, the Korean news agency Union News reported that the Ministry of National Defense had initiated the necessary procedures to withdraw this situation on the 17th, citing government officials.

Specifically, it says that it has sent an official document to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea requesting it to take necessary measures, and in response to this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea is expected to send relevant documents to the Japan side in the near future.

The coalition news agency reported that the normalization of the GSOMIA will also give impetus to the promotion of security cooperation to share North Korea's missile warning data in real time, which was included in the joint statement at the trilateral summit meeting of Japan, the United States, and South Korea last November.
