A first ballot will be held in May to "replace the vacant positions on the steering committee" before the election of the president of the FFR in mid-June.

The deadline for submitting nominations to replace Alexandre Martinez, appointed interim president in February to replace Laporte who resigned, is set for May 31 for a vote opening on June 12.

Bernard Laporte had resigned after appealing his two-year suspended prison sentence for having made a "corruption pact" with businessman and president of the Montpellier club Mohed Altrad.

He was replaced by General Treasurer Alexandre Martinez.

President of the FFR since December 2016, Bernard Laporte was sentenced on December 13 to two years in prison suspended for corruption, influence peddling, illegal taking of interests, abuse of company assets and concealment of abuse of corporate property.

Having appealed the decision, his sentence, accompanied by a ban on exercising his activity as president of the FFR, is not immediately enforceable.
