British Royal Mint

In 1279, Britain's many mints were unified under a single system under which the center of the mint was controlled, to be the body allowed to manufacture or mint coins in the United Kingdom.

In addition to minting coins for the United Kingdom, it also mints coins for many other countries and produces military and commemorative medals, so it is one of the most prominent mints around the world.

The Maison began moving part of its operations from Tower Hill near the Tower of London to Llantrisant South Wales in 1968, until it moved completely in 1980.

The current Maison has a collection of coins dating from the 16th century to the present, kept in 8 cabinets ordered by the late Queen Elizabeth II, and employs 765 employees.

Since 2010, it has been a limited company contracted by the Royal Treasury to supply all UK coins.
