The idea was that Region Kalmar would deliver the free vaccines against cervical cancer early this year, but for a number of different reasons this has not happened.
– It is the final details of our IT system that need to be put in place before we can start, says Karin Dahl, specialist doctor and project manager for the HPV vaccine campaign in Kalmar County.
Until the update of the IT system that handles the appointments is in place, women in Kalmar County cannot take part in the free vaccine offer. At the moment, the region cannot say exactly when it will be possible to book a vaccine appointment, only that it will be soon, and hopefully in early April.
99s have good vaccination coverage
The vaccine offer applies to women born between 1994-1998 in Kalmar County, and to women born between 1994-1999 Kronoberg County. The fact that it separates an entire cohort of regions has its explanation.
– In the Kalmar region, women born in 1999 have good vaccination coverage, up to 82 percent are already vaccinated. If we compare with women born 94 to 98, where the corresponding vaccination coverage is 56–60 percent," says Karin Dahl.
