Incident between a U.S. drone and a Russian fighter jet on Tuesday led to the drone crash-landing in the Black Sea. Martin, division commander in the Swedish Air Force and himself a fighter pilot, makes the assessment that the collision itself has not occurred intentionally. He says this after taking part in images from the US Air Force, which is said to show the incident from the drone's camera.

"There is no pilot who wants to fly into another aircraft, so I judge that it is an accident, but that is preceded by a risky manoeuvre," says Martin.

US defence chief: 'Remains to be seen'

The US State Department hinted as early as Wednesday that the collision may have been accidental.

"We know that the aggressive behavior was intentional, we also know that it was very unprofessional and very uncertain," U.S. Defense Chief Mark A. Milley said Wednesday.

Russia has denied having direct contact with the drone.
