The 30 companies that were on site need to hire 1,100 people, including summer jobs.

- We turn to job seekers, summer job seekers and career changers. People from Ukraine are often well educated and have a great drive, so it is a group we want to reach, says Monica Barck Flygare, project manager for "Care For U Norr", Luleå municipality.

Get to work

It has been a year since a majority of the refugees from the war in Ukraine came to Sweden and despite the politicians' promises of efforts to quickly get them into work, most are still unemployed, which SVT Nyheter has told about.

Of more than 30,000 Ukrainians of working age, just under 1,500 have found work with the help of the Swedish Public Employment Service, a figure that is equivalent to five percent.

"My experience, after having been to recruitment fairs in Stockholm, is that we find it easier to offer Ukrainians jobs in Norrbotten than they have in southern Sweden. That's why a lot of people want to move up here," says Barck Flygare.

Hear from those looking for a job

The companies and at the recruitment fair operate in various industries such as tourism, IT and paving. The municipalities and the Migration Agency are also looking for staff.
