The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said Wednesday that its inspectors had discovered the loss of about 2.5 tonnes of natural uranium from a site in Libya no longer under government control.

On Tuesday, the IAEA inspected a declared site in Libya with natural uranium in the form of concentrations of raw uranium.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said in a statement to member states that IAEA inspectors had discovered that 10 cylinders containing about 2.5 tons of natural uranium previously declared to be stored at the site were not there.
