Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said 12 people were killed by the floods in southeastern Sanliurfa province while two others died in nearby Adiyaman province, Habertürk writes.

Turkey's disaster management says more than a dozen professional divers were involved in rescue efforts in the provinces, the AP reports.

One of the victims, in the town of Tut in Adiyaman, was killed when gushing water swept a container house where a family of earthquake survivors lived, according to governor Numan Hatipoglu.

Several people have been evacuated from a drenched camp where earthquake survivors have taken shelter in tents. In addition, patients have had to be evacuated from a hospital, according to the AP.

The earthquake worsened conditions

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck parts of Turkey and Syria on February 6, killing more than 52,000 people — the vast majority in Turkey. More than 200,000 buildings in the country collapsed or were severely damaged, thousands of people are left without homes.
