On the 13th, the Jinji Barrage, an important node of the project, welcomed the first batch of visitors from Taiwan compatriots this year. More than 100 Taiwan compatriots visited the site to learn about the water supply to Jinmen in an all-round way.

  On August 5, 2018, Quanzhou, Fujian Province officially opened water to the Kinmen Water Supply Project, and the vision of "a family on both sides of the strait drinking water from the same river" became a reality.

So far, the project has supplied nearly 26 million tons of water to Kinmen.

  During the visit, the Taiwan compatriots walked and watched all the way, and visited the Quanzhou Water Conservancy Culture Exhibition Hall and the river dam.

  "Kinmen is a small island, and its water mainly depends on pumping groundwater, and it suffers from water shortage all year round."   In addition to meeting the water needs of the folks in Kinmen, the "one-work, multi-effect" water supply project from Quanzhou, Fujian to Kinmen has also effectively alleviated the problem of groundwater salinization in Kinmen, improved the water quality of Kinmen's Tianpu Reservoir and Taihu Reservoir, and greatly reduced Kinmen's water production costs , effectively protecting the groundwater resources and ecological environment of Kinmen.

  The water supply from Quanzhou, Fujian Province to the Kinmen area comes from the Jinjiang River Basin. The water is diverted from the Jinji Barrage Sluice to the Longhu Reservoir, pumped by the Longhu Pumping Station to the Weitou sea point, and then transported to Kinmen through a submarine pipeline.

  On February 20 this year, the Kinmen Water Supply Project officially started construction.

The total investment of the project is 3.1 billion yuan. After completion, it will provide Kinmen with a more reliable, stable and safer source of water.
