A 4.9-magnitude earthquake occurred in Kahramanmaraş, southern Turkey, today, Tuesday, and there was no immediate news of damage, weeks after the major earthquake centered on the state itself.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority said that the epicenter of the new quake was the Çağlın-Grit region in Kahramanmaraş, at a depth of 5.3 kilometers below the surface of the earth.

She explained that there was no preliminary news of damage caused by the earthquake, and said that she was carrying out field research work.

On the sixth of last February, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, followed by another 7.6-magnitude earthquake, which claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people and left widespread destruction, describing it as the largest disaster in Turkey's modern history.
