He noted that the grain deal contributes to the reduction of world food prices.

“Therefore, we will do everything possible to maintain the integrity of the agreement and ensure its continuation,” Dujarric said.

Speaking about the situation with the export of Russian agricultural products, he said that the UN is consistently working with the private sector, with Russia, the EU, the UK, the US and other parties to achieve full implementation of the signed memorandum of understanding.

“We continue our efforts, but, obviously, many things are not in the power of the UN,” TASS quoted him as saying.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said that Moscow's position on the grain deal would depend on progress in the export of Russian agricultural products.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also noted that Russia does not object to the extension of the grain deal, which expires on March 18, but only for 60 days.
