The 12-second short video sequence is unpleasant and is therefore not shown by SVT in its entirety.

The video, which was posted just over a week ago, has gone viral on social media.

SVT has not been able to verify where or when the video clip was filmed, but both Ukrainian authorities and relatives of the soldier confirm that it is Matsijevskyj who is executed in the video clip.

Oleksandr Matsijevsky's mother tells Ukrainian UA: PBC that she recognized him immediately.

- I shouted Sasja, it's my Sasja, says Praskovija Demtjuk.

She sent the video to her daughter-in-law Julia, who with sadness in her voice showed it to her son Misja.

The son became very upset and cried uncontrollably.

Has been awarded the highest order of Ukraine

Oleksandr Matsijevskyj was an electrician in Kiev, but joined the army as a volunteer after the full-scale Russian invasion.

On December 30, 2022, he and four other Ukrainian soldiers were engaged in a firefight near Soledar when they were captured.

Matsijevsky's brothers-in-arms are still missing.

The day before he called his mother, it would be the last call.

- Mother, take care of yourself, take care of yourself, he said.

I cried so much, says Praskovija Demtjuk

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has posthumously awarded Matsijevskyj the highest award "Hero of Ukraine" and Foreign Minister Kuleba calls on the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court to immediately open an investigation.
