There will be a pride festival in Sölvesborg this summer.
How it will be designed is not yet clear, but it will at least be a pride parade like last year.
- It remains to be seen how big the commitment will be.
But our view is that the municipality is very keen on Sölvesborg having its second pride parade, says Sophia Ahlin, pride chairman, also a moderate politician in Karlskrona.
Pride flag was stopped in Sölvesborg
It was in 2019 that the then political administration in Sölvesborg created big headlines around the municipal flag policy, where the rainbow flag should not be raised - as the Pride Association in Karlskrona decided to hold a pride parade in Sölvesborg.
The pandemic then got out of the way and the parade only became a reality last summer 2022.
Since then, a new board has taken over in the municipality, but implementing Sölvesborg Pride is still important, says Sophia Ahlin.
- It is clear that there will be a difference when there is another commitment now, but it is not the political that is the main thing for us.
This is about showing a different image of Sölvesborg than the one seen in the media.
Karlskrona Pride 10 years
Karlskrona Pride celebrates 10 years this year, and the organizers therefore hope to be able to implement something very special in Blekinge this year.
Sölvesborg Pride will be on August 19, but the date for Karlskrona Pride has not yet been decided.
