Seventeen years after his disappearance, the young man, Nasser Samir, returned to his family in the city of Menouf, in the Menoufia Governorate, in northern Egypt, according to local media.

He added, "We searched for him everywhere to no avail. I slept in the streets looking for my son, and I did not lose hope in his return. I resorted to charlatans, and paid a lot of money, and some of them assured me that he had drowned, but I never despaired. I did not taste the taste of sleep." I was thinking about him all the time."

He continued, "I wrote a report and sent distress faxes (messages) to all agencies. We posted a picture of him on Facebook, and I contacted one of the pages searching for missing children, and they confirmed that my son is in Cairo. I could not believe that I saw my son after an absence of 17 years. My joy is indescribable." My tears fell from me as soon as I saw him, and my heart said that he was my son.
