It is the municipal company Dundret Gällivare Fjällanlægg AB that has developed the vision.

It states that the 5,000 beds are to be distributed over a hotel with a spa and a number of residential buildings which together form a classic mountain village with dense housing.

It will also have shops, restaurants, winding village streets and a square that brings the whole village together.

- We are finally going to push through the effort and the investments that Dundret and all Gällivare residents deserve, says Tobias Larsson, director of operations, in a press release.

"A pulsating arena"

A contractor company, which previously built Swedish mountain villages, has been contacted and the activities planned will ensure that Dundret becomes a year-round destination.

They also want to create the opportunity to organize major international sporting events.

- This is a long-term investment in Dundret, but also for the whole of Gällivare.

It will be a vibrant arena for tourism, which in turn will make more people want to move here, says Tobias Larsson.

The visitors must be more

But for Dundret to become independent of municipal tax funds, the number of visitors must increase significantly.

Tobias Larsson says that the number of visitors needs to increase to around double from today's 50,000 visitors a year.

- In order for there to be economy in developing Dundret, we have to make it big.

We have calculated this and concluded that we should be able to offer at least 5,000 beds by 2032.

Now on Friday, March 17, the municipality invites you to a consultation meeting in Kunskapshuset where several actors will be present.
