I would like to ask Representative Yang Chaoming, you have been engaged in the research of traditional Chinese culture for a long time, what kind of insights do you have on promoting the excellent traditional Chinese culture?

Thanks.

Representative of Yang Chaoming, Professor of Advanced Institute of Confucianism, Shandong University

  Thank you for your question.

Hello everyone, I am Yang Chaoming, from the Advanced Research Institute of Confucianism at Shandong University, and I am a scholar engaged in the study of traditional Chinese culture.

I have lived and worked in Qufu, Shandong Province for a long time these years, where I personally experienced and participated in the inheritance and promotion of the excellent traditional Chinese culture.

Now, many cultural classics have entered the campuses of primary and secondary schools and become reading materials.

In Luyuan New Village, a thousand-year-old village, you can feel the unique charm of Chinese excellent traditional culture everywhere.

There is also Nishan in Qufu, where Confucius was born.

We have held the 8th Nishan Forum on World Civilizations in a row.

This is a window for the exchange of civilizations and a link connecting the world.

I have participated in the forum many times, and each forum has a large number of Chinese and foreign scholars, foreign envoys, and international friends come here to exchange and learn from each other, and feel the unique charm of China's excellent traditional culture together.

I remember that in a forum, there was a European scholar with a good level of Chinese.

After we gave speeches respectively, he and I communicated on the way to visit together. We talked about the differences between Eastern and Western cultures, especially Confucianism.

When talking about traditional Chinese culture, he agrees very much with the concept of "walking the road, the world is for the public".

This, he believes, is common to all human beings.

After that, we met and communicated many times, forged a deep friendship and became very good friends.

Now, we have published multiple foreign language editions of "The Analects of Confucius". I specially prepared a copy, and I will definitely give it to him next time I see it.

What makes me happy is that when I go abroad, I also deeply feel the positive influence of traditional Chinese culture on the world.

Once I was invited to give a lecture in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and the foreign party originally planned to give me only half an hour.

Following my explanation, the audience present became more and more interested and interested, and some people raised questions from time to time.

A foreign friend asked me, "What do you think is the most influential point of view in Confucianism in the world?" I told him clearly that it is "to uphold harmony and seek great harmony", to pursue harmony and harmony, to develop and progress together in harmony, and to embody Concord Wanbang's international outlook.

After the speech, this foreign friend had a lot of exchanges with me, and he fully agreed with some of the points I mentioned.

If we compare Chinese civilization to a big tree that grows endlessly, the reason why the trunk is thick and strong is because its roots are deeply and firmly rooted.

This is one of the outstanding advantages of our Chinese nation and our profound cultural soft power.

As a researcher of Chinese culture, I feel sincerely proud.

As a representative of the National People's Congress from the cultural system, I want to better perform my duties, further promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture, promote mutual learning among civilizations, and use my research to contribute to the construction of a socialist cultural power.

Thanks.
