BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) Comprehensive foreign media reports, Tunisian President Saeed said on the 10th that he hopes to see Tunisia and Syria send ambassadors to each other.

Foreign media believe that this is the latest sign that the country may fully restore diplomatic relations with the Syrian government.

According to Reuters, a video posted on social media by the Tunisian president's office showed Saeed telling Foreign Minister Nabil Amar at a meeting that "a decision has to be made on this issue."

Saeed also said: "There is nothing to justify the absence of the Tunisian ambassador to Syria and the Syrian ambassador to Tunisia."

According to the report, about 10 years ago, anti-government demonstrations broke out in Syria in the ongoing turmoil in West Asia and North Africa.

Tunisia supports the Syrian opposition and breaks diplomatic relations with Syria.

In 2017, Tunisia re-established a limited diplomatic mission to Syria to help the Syrian side track more than 3,000 Tunisian fighters working for the opposition.

Since Saeed became the president of Tunisia, he has repeatedly signaled to the Syrian side that he is willing to change Tunisia's diplomatic stance.

Last month, Saeed said he would elevate Tunisia's diplomatic representation in Syria.
