The head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and his deputy, Mohamed Hamdan Hamidti, held a meeting on Saturday evening, with the participation of the signatories to the framework agreement.

At the end of the consultations that discussed the political and security situation in the country, the meeting decided to form a joint security committee of regular forces, relevant state agencies and armed struggle movements to follow up on the security situation in the country.

According to a statement issued by the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, the meeting decided to proceed with what was described as the agreed arrangements regarding the political process.

Recently, local media outlets, including the private "Sudan Tribune" news website and the private "Al-Rakuba" newspaper, reported disagreements between the President of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and his deputy, Hamidti, regarding the framework agreement.

She stated that Hemedti supports the rapid handover of power to a civilian government, while Al-Burhan believes that it is necessary to search for more consensus regarding the framework agreement with the political forces and to include the forces that did not sign the agreement.

On January 8, the final stage of the political process began between the signatories of the "framework agreement" concluded last December 5 between the military and civilians, to reach an agreement that would solve the crisis in the country.
