It is until this Sunday, midnight, that the senators must examine the pension reform, after a first passage in the National Assembly.

The text, if adopted despite its challenge in the street, will then have to go through the joint joint committee on Tuesday.

Europe 1 takes stock.

A political fight in parallel with the social fight.

While the mobilizations against the pension reform continue, in particular to protest against the shift in the legal retirement age to 64, the examination of the text also continues.

After a first troubled passage in the National Assembly, the pension reform is debated in the Senate until Sunday, midnight.

Tight timing, which is why senators are trying by all means to finish on time and vote on the text entirely.

It is for this reason that Bruno Retailleau, the leader of the Republicans in the upper house, has given up presenting his amendment concerning the abolition of special schemes for current employees, i.e. the abandonment of the grandfather clause.

By making this gesture, the right-wing senator gives a new boost to the review of the reform.

The joint committee test

As of this Sunday, the Senate will have to decide on the final vote of the text, that is to say the entirety of the reform.

And this step is crucial for the government, which absolutely seeks institutional legitimacy to hope to calm the protest in the street, without having to go through 49.3.

After the adoption of this text, the next step will take place in the famous joint committee (CMP), which will take place on Tuesday 14 March.

This commission brings together seven members of the National Assembly and seven from the Senate.

The elected officials will have to agree on a common version of the text for the two chambers.

The debates promise to be lively because each political party will be present, from La France insoumise to the National Rally.

The government's only hope of obtaining a majority in this commission will therefore be to reach an agreement with Les Républicains.
