The day after tomorrow, Monday, March 13, in the Qatari capital, Doha, the work of the Al-Jazeera conference on artificial intelligence in the field of media, organized by the Al-Jazeera Institute, will start under the title "Artificial Intelligence in Media."

The conference program includes 3 working sessions and a workshop entitled "Artificial Intelligence and Cyber ​​Security", in addition to a technical exhibition.

Sessions and speakers

The first session is titled "Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Media: Opportunities and Challenges", with the participation of Luo Yangen from the Chinese News Agency, who will talk about the applications of artificial intelligence in the news industry.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Magarmad from Qatar Computing Research Institute will shed light on natural language processing models on GPT Chat. Shadi Haddad from Microsoft will talk about generative artificial intelligence. Dr. Mohamed Nassar from the University of New Haven, USA, will speak. On the topic of “Fake News and Knowledge Security”, the media session will be moderated by Rawa Auger.

As for the second session, which will be moderated by Jamal Al-Shayal, it will be titled "Artificial Intelligence: Knowledge Economy and Media Work Ethics".

Dr. Shawki Tawbeh, from Google, will participate in it with a paper entitled "Responsible Artificial Intelligence", while Dr. George Mikros from Hamad Bin Khalifa University will discuss the use of artificial intelligence in combating artificial intelligence.

Dr. Milan Maric from Doha University of Science and Technology will speak about ethical considerations in artificial intelligence and the media, in addition to Jesse Shaheen from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights who will address the topic of the intersection of artificial intelligence and human rights law.

The third session is titled "Arab Media in the Age of Artificial Intelligence", in which Asef Hamidi of Al Jazeera News Channel will talk about opportunities and challenges in the field of artificial intelligence, while Zahra Rasool of Al Jazeera Media Network will talk about the application of virtual reality in digital media content.

Hassan Ali Al-Ajmi from the International Company for Cyber ​​Solutions will also participate in a presentation on innovations in the field of artificial intelligence and the security of media companies, while Grant Franklin Totten from the "Tasmu" platform will present cases of using media supported by artificial intelligence, and finally Dr. Jim Jansen from the Qatar Computing Research Institute will address the topic of personality media through the use of artificial intelligence.

Workshop and documentary film

As part of the conference, a workshop on cybersecurity and artificial intelligence will be held, which will be moderated by Dr. Bakir Sait Siftler and Dr. Ahmed Al-Wishi, who are both professors at Doha University for Science and Technology.

The first session will address artificial intelligence and its impact on media, artificial intelligence, and social media.

The second session will be entitled Understanding the security threats of artificial intelligence to the media and the risks of artificial intelligence in the media.

On the sidelines of the conference, there will be a screening of a documentary film by Jana Al-Maslamani entitled "Rethinking Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence".

Technical exhibition and partnerships

In parallel with the sessions, there will be a technical exhibition in which the Al-Jazeera Institute will display the virtual studio "Autokyo" and the TV interview studio using the unique "VR3" technology in this field. The Institute will also display its various services using innovative technologies.

Doha University of Science and Technology is participating in the exhibition through a presentation of 3 robots: a welcome robot, a robot that will participate in presenting the editorial, and a robot that presents questions and answers at the university pavilion within the exhibition.

Qatar Science and Technology Park is also participating in the Al Jazeera Conference for Artificial Intelligence and Media with 3 applications: “Avey” application, which enables the user to monitor his health status through a smart self-diagnosis system.

QMIC, an application focused on distributed sensing, data collection and management, creation and delivery of services, and sKora, a sports technology created to digitize the work of a sports agency.

Google and Microsoft are participating in technical applications related to artificial intelligence in the field of media, while Hamad Bin Khalifa University is participating in the conference by presenting a device that monitors floods, transmits news of them and their impact on the population, and displays pictures and videos posted about them on the Internet.

The university will display a device to measure and follow up the effect of the product on the customer by tracking eye movement, and displaying a brain scan to see if any part of the brain interacts more with the product, in addition to an application that collects news from 2,500 Arabic and English sources and allows comparison between them.

In the framework of combating rumors that have swept social media, Qatar University is participating by offering the "Verify" application, which helps verify the credibility of tweets via the Twitter application.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology provides an overview of Qatar's national strategy in the field of artificial intelligence.

In terms of AI's entry into the world of image and video, Movio is participating in the conference by showcasing the site's features that range from AI-powered video production to helping take text and converting it into video in minutes.
