The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova commented on the decision of Vladimir Zelensky to instruct the Prime Minister of Ukraine to study the renaming of Russia to Muscovy.

“Here is another evidence of an attempt to create an “anti-Russia” from Ukraine,” Zakharova wrote on Telegram.

Earlier it was reported that Vladimir Zelensky responded to a petition posted on the website of the office of the President of Ukraine, which refers to the possibility of renaming Russia to Muscovy.

The head of the Kyiv regime instructed the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal to "thoroughly work out" this issue.

“The issue raised in the petition requires careful study both in the historical and cultural context and taking into account possible international legal consequences.

In view of the above, I turned to the Prime Minister of Ukraine with a request for its comprehensive study, in particular with the involvement of scientific institutions and informing me and the author of the petition about the results, ”STRANA.ua” quotes the text of the response.

The petition, which proposes to “replace the term “Russian” with “Moscow”, and “Russian Federation” with “Moscow Federation”, was posted on the website of the office of the President of Ukraine back in November 2022.

During this period, she received over 25 thousand votes - the necessary threshold for consideration by the President of Ukraine.

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Viktor Vodolatsky, in a conversation with RT, called the initiative "madness."

“A normal, sane head of any state will not reach such madness as instructing his subordinates to resolve issues of renaming a neighboring state.

This can only be done by a sick person with a very sophisticated fantasy after some kind of drug frenzy.

Already once he raised such a wave.

But she quickly subsided, because everyone, even his companions, understood that he was talking after some hard day or night, ”he stressed.

The parliamentarian stressed that Ukraine is under external control.

“If you put aside all emotions, Ukraine has long lost its sovereignty, it is not a subject of international law and is controlled from the outside.

And the so-called President Zelensky himself does not take a single step without the approval of the State Department, ”added Vodolatsky.

Vladimir Dzhabarov, the first deputy head of the committee on international affairs of the Federation Council, called the Ukrainian initiative yet another stupidity on the part of the leadership of the Kyiv regime.

“What does the name of our country have to do with it – and Ukraine?

The internationally recognized name of our country is Russia.

And they can call it “Muscovy”, “Pskov region”, “Ural region”, but nothing will change from this.

Representatives of the Kyiv regime are trying to attribute the history of Russia to themselves.

They understand that without Russia they have no history.

They want to isolate us from this story and ascribe to themselves all the historical victories of Russia and its historical development, ”said the interlocutor of RT.

In addition, on March 11, it became known that Vladimir Zelensky introduced new sanctions that affected 287 legal entities and 120 individuals, including citizens of Cyprus, Great Britain, Poland, Turkey and the Netherlands.

At the same time, the majority of individuals who have been subjected to restrictive measures are citizens of the Russian Federation.

We add that the operator of state lotteries Sportloto, as well as a number of bookmakers associated with Russia, fell under the sanctions.
