Asked about the pension reform during a joint press conference with the British Prime Minister, the President of the Republic made known his determination as to its delivery.

Emmanuel Macron also believes that the time for union negotiations is over, and that it must give way to parliamentary time.

Emmanuel Macron said Friday that the pension reform must go to its "end" in Parliament, suggesting that he did not rule out anything, including the use of adoption without a vote via 49.3.

"It happens that Parliament will follow the terms of our Constitution so that a legislative text can go to its end. Neither more nor less," said the head of state during a joint press conference with the Prime Minister. British Minister Rishi Sunak at the Elysée Palace.

"And this in a climate of calm, of respect for agreements and disagreements, but also with a sense of responsibility in the context which is ours", he added.

Asked about his willingness or not to have recourse to Article 49.3 of the Constitution if a majority was not assured in the National Assembly on this flagship reform of his five-year term, he replied: "I will not make any political fiction, because that is not my role".

“There was a time of union negotiations, then there was a time of executive work. Then there is parliamentary time in the Assembly and then now in the Senate. And the Senate is working hard. foot, day and night," he noted.

Emmanuel Macron assured that he wanted to "respect this parliamentary time without making any fictional scenarios whatsoever".

"I let senators work and senators work with the government," he insisted.
