It is essential to life, fascinates as well as feared: fire is the subject of an exhibition in Toulouse.

"Feux, megafeux" is the name of this exhibition which takes place until November at the Quai des Savoirs.

It presents the flame in all its states, its contributions and its dangers.

In Toulouse, an immersive exhibition entitled "Fires, mégfeux" opened its doors.

It presents the flame in all its states, its contributions, its dangers, the causes and the consequences of forest fires.

An exhibition that is more topical than ever in the face of the fires that ravaged more than 60,000 hectares last summer.

A burnt kitchen

For the purposes of the exhibition, Antonin and Lucas investigate in a kitchen ravaged by a fire.

They need to find the source of the disaster.

"We must know in the glass of the worktop if there are rounded breaks or straight breaks", explains one of them at the microphone of Europe 1.

Understand how lights work

Right next to them, Alice and Elisabeth, her grandmother, enter a large smoky room to understand the difficulties of finding one's way in the event of a fire.

"It's a little scary when you're in it," says Alice.

But the exhibition also explores the benefits of fire, its mystical aspect.

"If the fire warms up, if it lights up the night, of course, on a daily basis, there can be dangers. We have prevention messages which are presented in interactive form and in fun form, to see what to do attention", indicates Laurent Chicano, of the Quai des Savoirs, specifying that fire is very present in most civilizations.

You can also dress up as a firefighter, use fire hoses… But the end of the exhibition is mainly devoted to forest fires, like those that ravaged the Gironde last summer.

An exhibition to better understand how to prevent these fires and their effects on climate change.
