It was this weekend that it was discovered that the ship had moved - and that the reason was that there was a hole in the hull.

Earlier in the week there were no plans to ship the boat away as it is not owned by Östhammar municipality.

But now the municipality has made a risk assessment and based on that decided to be responsible for shipping the boat away, something that UNT was the first to tell about.

The municipality's previous assessment regarding the handling of the ship revolved around saving it from sinking.

- Now we have gained more knowledge that simply did not exist before, says head of the community sector at Östhammar municipality.

To be checked

According to Ulf Andersson, the process can take time.

First, a procurement needs to be done on the part of the municipality.

Then the vessel needs to be checked, both before and during towing it.

What can it cost?

- No idea - it's impossible to guess.

It's a big boat, it's not like lifting a canoe, says Ulf Andersson.

The municipality has not yet managed to get in touch with the ship's owner, but according to information to UNT, it is the owner who will ultimately be required to pay the costs.
