Evin Cetin, author and former plaintiff's attorney, says in the broadcast that she is concerned about the development.

- We have had a culture of silence that has made investigations difficult.

There are people who do not testify, for example neighbors and parents who did not dare to speak for fear of being targeted.

And we've probably seen over the last two years that it's actually come to fruition.

Evin Cetin tells, among other things, about a concrete case where serious criminals threatened her client because he testified and to silence him they shot straight through his door with an automatic weapon.

- We have increased resources to protect witnesses and crime victims, but we have to look at the aspect of the parents, it is a new target group that the justice system has to deal with.

- From a legal perspective, I think it will be more difficult for us to get information for preliminary investigations and if we don't get that, we will have more cases that are not resolved.

It is a worrying development.

Affects the children

Alexander Zadruzny from Kollektiv sorg - an independent campaign within Amnesty that works to draw attention to the shootings through art and trauma processing, talks about how the wave of violence affects children and young people in the worst affected areas.

That it is something you constantly have to deal with and something that eats away at the psyche of many.

- We have had around 700 shootings near schools in the last three years.

And when I'm out lecturing in schools, I notice from the children's questions that this is something that affects them.
