As the United States strengthens export controls on advanced semiconductors and related manufacturing equipment for China, the Netherlands, which has a high share of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, has announced a policy to tighten export controls.

Although it does not mention China, it is in line with the tightening of regulations in the United States.

In a letter to parliament on the 8th, the Dutch government announced a policy to strengthen export controls on advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment by this summer.

In the Netherlands, there is a manufacturer with a high market share for this device, and the Dutch government says that the purpose of tightening regulations is to prevent it from being used for military purposes.

Regarding cutting-edge semiconductors and related manufacturing equipment, the United States announced in October last year that it would tighten export controls to China and sought cooperation from Japan and the Netherlands, and the focus was on the response of both countries.

The Dutch government has not said whether the tightening of regulations will target China, but it is in line with the tightening of regulations demanded by the United States.

On the other hand, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Mao Ning said at a press conference on the 9th that he "resolutely opposes restricting normal economic exchanges between companies in the two countries" and made a request to the Dutch side. .

On top of that, with the United States and others in mind, he opposes China, saying, "Some countries are politicizing and instrumentalizing economic and scientific issues in order to take away China's right to development and protect their own hegemony."
