Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday March 8 the presentation of a bill "in the coming months" to include voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion) in the Constitution, paying tribute to the feminist Gisèle Halimi, on the International Day women's rights.

"The advances resulting from the parliamentary debates, on the initiative of the National Assembly then enlightened by the Senate, will allow, I hope, to include in our fundamental text this freedom within the framework of the bill revising our Constitution which will be prepared in the coming months", declared the President of the Republic.

Died in 2020, lawyer Gisèle Halimi was a fierce fighter for the right to abortion.
