UN Secretary-General António Guterres is scheduled to travel to Ukraine to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday to discuss a deal on exports of Ukrainian agricultural products, which is set to expire on March 18.

According to the United Nations, Secretary-General Guterres is visiting Ukraine via Poland on the 7th and will meet with President Zelensky in the capital Kyiv on the 8th.



Secretary-General Guterres' visit to Ukraine is the third since Russia's military invasion in February last year.



At the meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky, he said he would discuss issues such as an agreement on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.



Regarding the export of Ukrainian agricultural products, Ukraine and Russia reached an agreement mediated by the United Nations and Turkey, but the deadline was approaching on the 18th of this month, and Russia claimed that the implementation of the agreement was insufficient, and the extension was postponed. In connection with this, UN Deputy Spokesperson Haq said at a press conference on the 7th that Secretary-General Guterres had no plans to visit Russia, and that he had a telephone conversation with Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Bershinin before leaving New York. clarified.



It also said next week it will hold talks between a Russian government delegation and the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, to extend the agreement.
