Stoltenberg said the process of approving Sweden's and Finland's applications to join NATO now needed to be completed as quickly as possible.

  Stoltenberg and Christensson jointly stated that the talks between Turkey, Sweden and Finland on the joining of NATO by the two countries will restart on the 9th.

  According to a Swedish TV report on the 7th, the Swedish government's proposal on joining NATO and related legislation have been prepared and will be submitted to the Swedish Parliament.

  On the 1st, the Finnish Parliament voted to approve the government's proposal on Finland's accession to NATO, as well as international agreements and legislative proposals related to NATO membership.

  In May 2022, Sweden and Finland applied to join NATO at the same time.

According to the regulations, NATO must have the "unanimous consent" of its 30 member states before it can admit new members.

Currently, Turkey and Hungary have not officially ratified Finland and Sweden to join.
