The Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Herzi Halevi, said that disobedience to orders among the ranks of the army weakens the strategic deterrence force according to which the Israeli army prevents the occurrence of wars, as he put it.

Halevy was speaking in closed sessions, according to what was reported by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, where he said that declaring disobedience to military orders poses a threat to the security of the state and its citizens.

Helvey pointed out that the Israeli army is the one that defends and saves Israel in difficult times and should not be used in any political disputes, according to the newspaper.

The newspaper added that the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army asked the commanders of all military units to conduct a dialogue within the army on this phenomenon.

Halevy's warnings come in the wake of messages sent by soldiers from several units in the army, including pilots from the elite unit, in which they declared their intention to disobey military orders if the Israeli government continued legislative measures aimed at overthrowing the judicial system, as they put it.
