If the National Sports Confederation approves e-sports as a sport in May, e-sports associations will get to share in the 600 million kroner that is annually distributed to sports associations in the country.

It also enables many other financial benefits, such as subsidized rents for premises where e-sports are supposed to be conducted.

- I don't want to jinx the application, but I would like to say that we have a good chance of becoming a sport this year.

We feel that there is greater acceptance than before, says Sammi Kaidi, chairman of the Swedish e-sports association.
