The researchers in Uppsala have studied 91 drawings, from the Swedish Children's Picture Archive, painted by children between the ages of four and six, to find out how they were affected by the pandemic.

- They have been influenced and have a surprising amount of knowledge, says Anna Sarkadi, professor of social medicine and public health, at Uppsala University.

"Children have their own experiences"

The researchers hope that the results will lead to decision-makers seeing children as consumers of information, says Anna Sarkadi.

- Children have their own experiences and needs for information.

In the clip, you can hear how the children have been affected by the pandemic.

The study is part of a more extensive research project, with the aim of finding out children's experiences of the pandemic, of which this part was the final one.

More research

On behalf of the Public Health Agency, the study will be followed up by looking at drawings from children between the ages of seven and eleven, painted both during and after the pandemic.
