China News Agency, Beijing, March 2. On March 2 local time, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi.

  Qin Gang said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Putin, China-Russia relations have sustained, healthy and stable development, established a new paradigm for a new type of major-country relationship, and played an important role in promoting the solidarity and cooperation of emerging markets and developing countries.

The two sides should maintain exchanges at all levels and intensify communication and coordination between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

Facing the complex and severe international situation, China is willing to work with the international community, including Russia, to jointly maintain peace, security, development and prosperity, and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

  Lavrov said that he is willing to work with China to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, intensify high-level exchanges, and plan cooperation in various fields.

Both Russia and China are members of the "Group of Friends Defending the Charter of the United Nations" and are willing to strengthen strategic communication with China to inject more stability into the international system.

Russia supports and will actively participate in global development initiatives and global security initiatives, and will continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the two sides within multilateral frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS.

  The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis.

Qin Gang comprehensively explained China's basic position, calling for joint efforts to uphold the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, support political solutions to crises, oppose fueling the fire, oppose sabotage of peace talks, oppose double standards, and oppose sanctions and pressure.

Qin Gang said that China supports all efforts to promote peace talks and will continue to play a constructive role in this regard.

Lavrov appreciated China's objective and fair stance and constructive role, saying that Russia has always been open to negotiation and dialogue.

  The two sides jointly signed the 2023 consultation plan between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
