The health care board in Västerbotten requested 50 million kroner extra to be able to bring in staffing companies to BB in Lycksele and reopen.

But the regional management said no.

- If you put a budget of minus 326 million, there are no funds, said regional councilor Peter Olofsson (S).

In the debate that followed, several regional politicians, including the committee's chair Anna-Lena Danielsson (S) and member Emma Lindqvist, (MP) pointed out that it is possible to seek money from the government.

- There are targeted state grants to apply for, said member Emma Lindqvist to SVT.

The money already distributed

Now it turns out that the money has already been distributed.

In the targeted effort for, among other things, maternity care in rural areas that Minister of Health Acko Ankarberg Johansson (KD), Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch (KD) launched in January, Region Västerbotten has already received just over 5.8 million kroner.

That money must be spent on Lycksele BB.

- We have received almost SEK 6 million for maternity care and that is the amount we are counting on, says Brita Winsa, director of health and medical care.

Criticized: "Bad control"

There are therefore no additional city grants to apply for.

And the remaining cost needed to be able to open Lycksele BB, around SEK 45 million, must now be saved within the existing business.

The opposition is critical of the majority's handling of the issue.

- They should have this fact.

The fact that they do not have it shows both that they have a poor understanding and that they do not give the issue the attention it deserves, says opposition councilor Nicklas Sandström (M).
