The sentence was appealed by the prosecutor who wanted to see both men convicted of murder, and now the Svea Court of Appeal is changing the sentence.

The men are sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.

The older of them is also sentenced to deportation.

It was in August 2021 that the victim, a 19-year-old man, was found shot to death in a field outside Enköping.

The men have blamed each other in questioning.

However, the Court of Appeal considers, like the prosecutor, that both contributed in such an active way to the deed that they are to be considered perpetrators, even if it is not possible to prove who fired the fatal shot.

The prosecutor had asked for prison terms of nine and sixteen years, respectively.

This is partly because they provided important information for the investigation, partly because one of the men was only 18 when the murder took place.

Two men were acquitted in the district court for involvement in the murders, including a 35-year-old man who was suspected of being the instigator.

All have consistently denied any wrongdoing.
