Wednesday weather: rainy in Corsica, generally sunny in the rest of the country

The weather will be sunny but cool across the country on Wednesday with the exception of Corsica where showers are expected, according to Météo-France.

On Corsica, showers will continue all day with a risk of thunderstorms on the eastern coast.

This precipitation may take the form of snowfall from 800/1,000 m with a sustained easterly wind.

A few snowflakes may spill over the southern Alps from 1,000 m.

On the rest of the country, dry but cool weather is expected with a strong sun.

Clouds will cover the sky from the Massif Central to Franche-Comté in the morning, but will gradually break up in the afternoon.

Up to 80 km/h wind in the south

In the South, the mistral and the tramontane will blow in the morning up to 60 to 80 km / h, before falling in the afternoon.

Between Corsica and the mainland, the northeast wind will continue all day with peaks at 60 and 70 km/h and up to 80 to 90 km/h at midday.

On the Channel coasts, the northeast wind will remain sensitive.

The morning frosts will affect the whole country with the exception of the Mediterranean coast.

We expect between -1 to -5 degrees inland, up to -6 to -8 degrees on the Massif Central, the Pyrenean and Alpine valleys.

The maximum will gain a few degrees and will reach 5 to 10 degrees over most of the country and up to 13 to 14 degrees in the Southeast.
