The Swedish Medicines Agency's concern: Young people tattoo their friends at home

Tattoos can be costly.

Perhaps this is why many young people choose to get tattooed at home instead of booking an appointment at a tattoo studio.

- The signals we have received are from municipal inspectors but also from companies.

Many companies have said themselves that they direct their sales to hobby businesses, as they put it, and then we see a very big risk that it is used in the home environment, says toxicologist, Elmira Tavoosi at the Swedish Medicines Agency.

According to Elmira Tavoosi, it is not possible to see how many people choose the home environment over the studio, but the indications from municipalities and companies have been enough for the authority to react.
